This year, our team has seen a dramatic increase in abortion-determined women reaching out to our hotline and walking through the doors of our pregnancy centers. Many of these new moms are sitting silently in our churches, struggling with their circumstances and unsure of where to turn for help. Consequently, many of them choose abortion, feeling like it is their only option. 62% of women who have abortions associate themselves as religiously affiliated. Nearly 4 out of 10 women, and 5 out of 10 men, state they were attending a church once a month or more at the time of their first abortion. In the U.S., 1 in 4 women (and consequently, 1 in 4 men) has experienced abortion, and 45% of women who have had an abortion have had a previous abortion.*
With the ever-changing landscape of abortion in Ohio, we all have an opportunity to support these new moms and dads with life-affirming options, support, prayer, and resources to empower them to make a life decision for their babies. On our hotline, and in our centers, these individuals are met with pure love, compassion, and no judgment. We meet them right where they are in the midst of their circumstances, so they know they are not alone. We tell them they can, when others may be telling them they can’t, and we make sure they have the follow-up, support, and resources needed for healthy outcomes.
