“From the moment I first heard Ella’s little heartbeat in the clinic walls of PDHC, I knew I was there by the grace of God—that He was in the plans all along. I was not alone. The life I carried was perfectly and wonderfully made. I no longer needed to carry the burden of fear and worry that came with an unplanned pregnancy. Jeremiah 29:11 echoed in my heart: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” PDHC reminded me that God had a plan for this little life, and that I could lay down my shame and be reunited with my Heavenly Father. With Him, I could walk this journey of parenthood. I’ve said it many times before, but it remains true: “PDHC gave me this life with my daughter.” Now, in the blink of an eye, we are more than 16 years into this journey. And wow—God’s hand has been on Ella every step of the way.
From an early age, she’s had the purest and sweetest love for Jesus. At just four years old she gave her heart to Him, and at eight she boldly declared her faith through baptism. That moment even inspired both my husband and me to be baptized alongside her. The fire in Ella’s heart to follow Jesus—to share the gospel and reflect His love in her daily life—has never wavered. Though she was very shy as a child, she was never afraid to invite friends to church or talk about her faith. Several of her friends have even told her she was the reason they came to know Jesus. Matthew 28:19 says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Ella has truly lived this out.
Ella is funny, beautiful, kind, a student athlete, an honor student, and a wonderful friend, daughter, and sister. But as her mother, my deepest pride is in her faith. She inspires me. Just the other night, after she had been studying for hours, I peeked into her room to say goodnight. She closed her laptop, picked up her Bible, and told me she would head to bed right after her reading. The discipline and discernment she shows are far beyond her years. I don’t share these things to boast about my daughter, but to testify that if PDHC had not been there to support me in my time of need, Ella’s life might never have come to be.
Her life, her light in this world, has already brought others to salvation. And if I know my girl, that list will only continue to grow. She is on a mission for God. Thank you, PDHC, and all who serve as the hands and feet of Jesus through this ministry. Thank you for reminding me that despite my sins, my Heavenly Father was waiting with open arms to walk with me in parenthood. You didn’t just save a baby—you saved countless lives through the impact of Ella’s faith, and many more still to come.”
