On March 1st, the 2025 Induced Abortions in Ohio Report was released, revealing heartbreaking information. There were 25,135 reported abortions (19,892 Ohio residents and 5,243 out-of-state residents) in our state, a 15% increase from the previous year. Franklin and Fairfield Counties represented 4,846 of these abortions. Franklin County was shown to have the 2nd highest percentage in the state at 19.3% of total abortions.
With the passing of Issue 1 in November of 2023, which enshrined abortion into our state constitution, Ohio has increasingly become a destination state for abortions due to neighboring states with more restricted laws. Locally, chemical abortions via the abortion pill represented 70% of abortions performed. Individuals can receive the abortion pill locally from area participating clinics located near our centers or order it online and have it delivered right to their doorstep to complete a self-managed abortion in their home.
According to the Charlotte Lozier Institute, there are several online abortion centers and pharmacies located within the United States or internationally that provide online shipping of abortion drugs to all 50 states. |

In an ever-changing landscape and with the expanded availability of drug-induced abortion, the need for Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) Services has never been more critical. APR gives hope to a woman who has taken the abortion pill, experiences regret, and desperately wants a second chance to save her baby’s life.
Since 2019, PDHC has been an affiliate of Heartbeat International’s Abortion Pill Rescue Network (APRN). When a woman reaches out for help, she is immediately connected to the nearest facility providing Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) services, and thankfully, here in central Ohio, that is PDHC.
Sierra was one of these women. She drove more than 2 hours to get help at PDHC after taking the abortion pill, and we were able to help her save her baby. That was 3 years ago, and now Sierra has become a voice of hope, courageously sharing her story with women across the United States. What began as a moment of fear has become a testimony of life. At PDHC, we consider her family. We celebrate each update she shares of her beautiful daughter through photos, videos, and milestones.
This week, members of our team had the joy of connecting with Sierra at Heartbeat International’s Annual Conference, held in Cincinnati and centered on the theme, The Power of Love. The conference brings together individuals from around the world, united in the shared mission of saving lives and serving with compassion and excellence. Through this time, our team is strengthened in both heart and mind. We return educated, equipped, and renewed, ready to continue this life-affirming work with even greater impact.
Every life tells a story, and you help make stories like Sierra’s possible. Thank you for walking alongside us to Rescue Lives and Impact Generations, One Heartbeat at a Time.
Blessings,
Kathy
